Ms. Weintraub is the spark that ignites HighTechHigh-LA. As an educational entrepreneur, she saw technology whizzing ahead of education. Her determination to prepare students to be inside the technology bubble, not on the outside looking in, led to HTH-LA. From the ground up, she has been instrumental in securing federal, state and local funds, architectural expertise, industry partnerships, curriculum development and a team commitment to the project.
As a member of the Los Angeles Board of Education for 14 years (Board President for 3 years), Ms. Weintraub was instrumental in instituting many forward-looking educational programs including the highly successful Magnet school program that now is embraced by over 160 school sites.
Ms. Weintraub brought the Mayor of Los Angeles, the Superintendent of LAUSD and the Police Chief together to seek an unprecedented partnership to create, the now highly successful Police Academy Magnet Schools.
Roberta Weintraub has hosted an Emmy Award Winning “School Beat” Education TV Talk Show. She has been a member of the Library Commission, City of Los Angeles and a member of the state bar Board of Governors. Ms. Weintraub has a B.A. from U.C.L.A. and has done graduate studies at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
